Bring Your Own Phone - Requirements

We'd love to have you! Bring your old phones and smartphone cast-offs!

We know the drill, the new and latest phone comes out and you don't know what to do with the old one. Don't waste your time trying to sell it, give it to your kid instead and have them use it on our very easy to use and manage Airtime plan - simply select "Bring My Own Phone" when you are setting up your Airtime plan.

Airtime utilizes the T-Mobile network. If you have a phone that works there, you are probably good to go! But you can still go to their site and double check too. Here is the link to T-Mobile's site. Jump over there, check it out and then come back to seal the deal on our site. You can check any phone from any carrier over there too.

Some other thoughts on phones that you can bring:

  • You must get your phone UNLOCKED. This is easily done if you call your old carrier and ask them to unlock it for you. They will check if the phone is paid for and off-contract and then unlock it. Just that easy.
  • The phones that work on our system have to be able to able to accept a SIM card. Please double check you have a SIM card-capable phone first.
  • GSM-capable phones that support Band II (1900 MHz) or IV (1700/2100 MHz) are compatible with the Airtime network. CDMA phones (usually older Verizon ones) are not compatible with the Airtime network.
  • If your phone is an unlocked GSM device, or an unlocked GSM/CDMA device that can run on a compatible LTE band (so for Verizon phones, Band 4, or 1700MHz and 2100MHz frequencies), you should be able to use it with Airtime.
